Working with International Publishers

The Publishing Training Centre welcomes enquiries about training or consultancy from international publishers. In recent years, we have been contracted by companies in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and south-east Asia.

Training can take place on-site or in the UK. In recent years we run a number of courses for the Nigerian Publishers Association and in 2006 we organised training in the UK for a group from the Malaysian Ministry of Education.

Training programmes can cover basic editing skills through to managing a successful publishing operation. As with any in-company initiative, training is preceded by detailed briefing and/or in-country assessment and is followed up by an evaluation of its effectiveness.

In Europe, The Publishing Training Centre is a founder member of the Association of Bookseller and Publisher Training Organisations in Europe (ABPTOE). Working with members in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands and Poland, ABPTOE has carried out two EU-funded projects. The most recent of these was an analysis of the training needs of publishers engaged in electronic publishing.
