E-book for novice indexers

The Indexer, the international journal of indexing, has been publishing a wide variety of articles related to indexing in all its varied forms for over fifty years. Conscious of the continuing value of material from earlier issues, the journal has recently embarked on a new venture – collections of carefully selected articles on a particular theme and available in a variety of e-book formats. The first of these collections is entitled Newcomers: a selection of articles for those new to indexing (ISBN 9781291148541). Aimed at those embarking on an indexing career (or thinking of doing so), it includes more than 20 articles ranging from the importance of indexes and indexing as a career to indexing efficiently, indexing well, indexing software, training, and negotiating with clients. It also looks towards possible futures with articles on new technology, embedded indexing, topic maps and XML. A key feature of the publication is a detailed, fully linked index, demonstrating the continuing importance of indexing in the digital age.
