£8000 available in training grants

Take up for the Unwin Charitable Trust (UCT) Grant scheme for freelancers and small publishers has been surprisingly low.

Under this scheme, started at the end of 2006, freelancers and small companies, who fulfil the criteria, can apply for £150 grants towards PTC open courses. As they also receive PTC’s 10% discount, freelances and small companies can significantly reduce the cost of top quality courses.

Currently there is approximately £8000 in the pot waiting to be claimed.

The criteria state that small companies must have 10 or fewer employees and be trading for at least two years, and similarly freelancers must have been working on a freelance basis for two years minimum.

Applying for grants couldn’t be simpler. Applicants must make a provisional booking with PTC at least 21 days before the course date and make clear that they wish to apply for the UCT grant. Once the criteria are fulfilled, and the provisional booking is confirmed, the grant is applied to the invoice amount.
